This week we will be decorating our eggs for Easter. Ever since I can remember, my family and I would dye Easter Eggs and place them in a basket on the table for Easter. One of my earliest memories is a neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt. There was one special silver egg hidden during the hunt. Whoever found it got the grand prize. The hunt went on for several minutes and no one had found the special silver egg. Everyone was looking frantically for it.
I suppose the adults had done a little too good of a job hiding it! I remember looking over towards a tree just at the moment some mulch was moved to uncover the special egg. I was the youngest child in the hunt and probably would have never found it had I not looked at just the right time. I raced over and recovered the egg and won the grand prize.
The grand prize was a large stuffed lion. I kept that lion throughout my childhood and it is actually still in my old room at my parent’s house. These memories are priceless and I think of them every year during Easter.
