These simple homemade cough drops are so easy to make and great to have on hand when your little one has a sore throat or a cough. Making them in the teddy bear mold makes it even more fun!

Being sick is no fun, especially when it is your kids who are feeling under the weather. When my older kid has a cold, I make homemade Vicks shower tablets for him to use in the mornings. When my younger child has a sore throat, I make her these homemade honey cough drops.

I say “cough drops” when actually they are honey pops.  Honey helps soothe sore throats but trying to get her to take it has been a chore until I make these honey pops. They are easy for her to try and are cute enough to get her excited about them! You can easily turn them into natural cough drops for the family.

Making your own homemade natural cough drops is actually pretty simple and only requires a few ingredients. These cough drops for kids only have one ingredient, honey. You can adapt this recipe to add lemon, herbs, or essential oils for a custom remedy when you are feeling sick.

Essential Oils to Try in Natural Homemade Cough Drops

If you are making these for adults you may want to think about adding a few drops of essential oils for added benefits. These essential oils are known to be good to use when you have a sore throat; thyme, cinnamon, lemongrass, tea tree, lavender, oregano, clove, oregano, basil, mint, rosemary, and lavender. When making natural cough drops for kids, I found adding a citrus is a nice touch. My kids like orange, tangerine, and lemon. Lemon essential oil is great to have on hand for lemon bath bombs.
