Oh how I love grilling season. We LOVE to grill out when it is nice outside and take advantage of our outdoor dining room. We love grilling burgers, chicken, hotdogs and pizza. What we needed were some good grilled desserts. I am a huge fan of Sara Lee pound cake. I have used it for many quick and easy dessert creations in my time. I went with my old faithful friend again with my Grilled Pound Cake with Berries and Whipped Cream. Have you ever grilled a pound cake on your grill? If you haven’t get ready to fall in love. When you grill it, the outsides get a little crispy and delicious while the inside is warm and gooey and perfect!
You can find the Sara Lee Pound cake in the freezer section of your local store (I got mine on a weekly trip to Target). I cut the cake in inch to and inch and half thick slices and put them on the grill still frozen. In about 6 minutes I turned it and grilled the other side. In about 10 minutes you will have perfectly grilled pound cake!
- Sara Lee Pound Cake Cut into inch wide slices frozen
- 2 cups frozen mixed berries thawed
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Whipped Cream
Grill slices of pound cake over a low flame, turning once.
Meanwhile, combine 1 cup berries with sugar in a food processor or blender and puree.
Top grilled pound cake with puree and remaining mixed berries. Top with whipped cream.
Next I added some frozen berries that I had on hand and topped it with my favorite whipped cream. It was delicious! Really this is a dessert that will impress your guest with little work from you! A simple, elegant dessert that will please adults and kids! For more dessert recipes visit www.SaraLeeDesserts.com!
