Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • parsley Optional

Sausage

  • 1 package Eckrich Lil' Smokies

Sauce

  • 1 12 oz can Dr Pepper
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp freshly ground pepper

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, mix together beef, breadcrumbs, egg, parmesan, and spices. Using your hands, form mixture into small 1-inch ball sized meatballs.
  • Using another medium-sized bowl, whisk together sauce ingredients until well combined.
  • Preheat a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil. When skillet is hot add your meatballs to the pan and brown on all sides. About 5 minutes. When meatballs are completely browned, add the sauce to the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let the sauce simmer until the sauce has reduced by half and meatballs are cooked through. For me, this took about 20 minutes. Be sure you are basting the meatballs with a spoon while they are simmering.
  • Garnish with parsley and enjoy!
