The pool is officially open and the kids are out of school for the summer next week! I consider the Memorial Day weekend the kickoff to the summer. We love to have friends and family come over to sit out on our screened-in porch and watch our kids play in the backyard. These days end up being some of my favorite days of the entire year!
When friends and family come over, I like to have something special for them to enjoy. Sometimes I make a great dessert or a delicious salad, but for the summer kickoff, it is all about the refreshing cocktails. The great thing about this recipe is how versatile it can be. You could easily leave out the vodka and enjoy it as a family-friendly beverage. You could also add some fresh fruit like peaches or raspberries for a more fruity vibe, the options are endless.
Whatever modifications you use, there is one ingredient that makes this recipe absolutely amazing, Milo’s award-winning sweet tea is the star of the show!
Milo’s Iced Teas
Not all sweet teas are created equal. I have always been a huge fan of Milo’s award-winning Teas and I keep a jug on hand at all times during the summer. I love that Milo’s is always made with all natural ingredients and doesn’t contain any added colors and preservatives. This tea can stand on its own, and it is delicious!
Milo’s was founded over 70 years ago by Milo and Bea Carlton, they have never strayed from the philosophy of using quality ingredients, listening to customers and never sacrificing taste. It is evident when you look at the short, simple ingredient list on Milo’s Iced Tea label pure cane sugar, filtered water, and fresh brewed tea. This is the same recipe they have been using since 1946 and I appreciate the simplicity.
I love Milo’s original Sweet Tea blend but Milo’s Tea is also available in No Calorie Sweetened with Sucralose and Unsweetened Tea. You can find Milo’s in the refrigerated juice section of your local supermarket. Click here to find a retailer near you.
Spiked Arnold Palmer Recipe with Milo’s Sweet Tea
I love finding really simple go-to cocktail recipes that I can make easily at home while I am entertaining. I am able to make this while my guests are arriving and have a drink station set out for them to pour their own when they are ready for a beverage.
Before guests arrive, I set up an ice bucket, some cups, and some sliced lemons on a beverage table. Since this recipe has a short ingredient list, I can mix it up quickly after they arrive.
You start by pouring your lemonade and vodka into your beverage pitcher. You can use Milo’s Lemonade! After mixing well, add in your Milo’s Sweet Tea and give it another stir. I slice up a large lemon and put the lemon slices on top and leave out some sprigs of mint to garnish.
Add a straw, some sun, and good company and enjoy!
As I mentioned earlier, this recipe can be modified in a few different ways. You could always switch up the type of alcohol used, I have tried it with bourbon before. You could also put out a few bowls of fresh fruit for guests to create their own version, bourbon and peaches sound amazing!
I hope you enjoy summer and you find time to relax and enjoy a cocktail with your friends and family!
