I know that I have written about my excitement surrounding our brand new house. My excitement doubles when a new holiday comes and I get to plan out holiday decor for my new space. This year will be extra special because for the first time, we have a fireplace for Santa to come down. This was my son’s only request of his new home.
Our new house needed some cosmetic updates to make it feel like home. We have gotten some new furniture, painted the trim and walls, installed new floors, and now we are adding some touches to make it feel warm and cozy. Take a look at our living room when we first moved in:
While it is far from being finished, here is our updated family room:
As you can see, my kids love to play in this room with all the wide open space. This is where most of our holiday decorations will be displayed. We want to put our tree up beside the big round mirror. Many of our old paintings will not make the cut, leaving more room for family pictures and some shelving. What we need to get this space ready for the holiday season is a nice big floor rug to make it feel a little more cozy. I found this one on Havertys website that would be perfect for this space:
I love the neutral color. This grey is both modern and classic and will be easy to incorporate into this room that changes as the seasons change. I can see my kids and I cuddled up on the sofa with some cups of hot cocoa with this rug underneath us! We could add some red pillows to the sofa for the holidays and it would complement this rug beautifully.
