Dinner time is the most hectic time of the day for us. I am sure we aren’t alone in this. My daughter is three and my son is six. My husband is just as busy as I am. He calls the period between when we get home from work/school and when the kids settle in for bed “The Guantlet”. He says we are lucky to make it through each day alive. I think he is being a little over-dramatic but he does have a point. Getting baths, homework, dinner and trying to spend some sort of quality time with the family is a real challenge. We are always looking for ways to make things quicker and easier without sacrificing the quality and meaning of everything.
Obviously, a huge part of making our evenings less hectic and more enjoyable is dinner time. I am constantly looking for ways to delight my family, save money and keep things simple enough that I can get in and out of the kitchen while maintaining my sanity.
This is why Italian food is always a great option in our family. There are so many different dishes I can make. They are all delicious; lasagna, spaghetti, casseroles, pizza. The list goes on and on. My son is a super picky eater but he is always game for any of these things.
So I was super excited to hear about Kroger’s “Taste of Italy” program. In this program, Kroger has paired with Bertolli® to inspire shoppers the create Italian, Tuscan inspired dishes. Well….. Sign me up!
I stopped by Kroger today to do my usual Sunday shopping and went to the pasta isle. I picked out the Bertolli® Tomato Basil Pasta sauce. With football on TV, soccer games for my son, house projects for my husband, getting ready for the coming week and everything else we had today, I decided to keep it simple and make some Spaghetti with ground turkey meat sauce. What better way to highlight the Tuscan inspired Bertolli® pasta sauce?
The dish was a big hit at our dinner table. My 6-year-old picky eater loved it. It was quick, easy, satisfying and delicious. The Bertolli® pasta sauce tasted like a traditional, Italian inspired sauce. It wasn’t watered down or bland. It tasted like someone’s grandma had been working on it over an a stove in Tuscany all afternoon.
Eating Bertolli® pasta sauce has inspired me to start trying some different dishes. I’m sure that I’ll be able to talk my family into starting down this Italian adventure with me.
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Bertolli®. The opinions and text are all mine.
