While there is something to be said about all the seasons, fall has to be my favorite. I love jeans, boots, sweaters and changing leaves. I love watching football with my family. I love firing up the slow cooker and making delicious chili and cornbread. I love the crisp mornings where I put the kids on the bus and I sit down with a cup of coffee and relax for a few minutes before starting work.
I am not sure I could function without my morning cup of coffee. It is the one indulgence I allow myself and I savor every sip. It’s not only about the coffee, but the few minutes of relaxation that goes along with it. Our lives are busy these days and taking a few minutes for yourself is crucial for a healthy outlook on life!
Fall is known as pumpkin season and every year I look forward to when Starbucks® releases their Fall beverages. This year I will be enjoying the perfect flavors of the season in the warmth of my own home with limited edition Starbucks® Pumpkin Spice Caffè Latte K-Cup® pods that are available at Giant Eagle.
Starbucks® Pumpkin Spice Caffè Latte
One of my favorite stores to shop at is our local Giant Eagle District Market store. There is something special about this store when you walk in and feel like you are in a market. They have the best spice aisle and right next to it is the coffee. This is where you can pick up a six pack of the limited edition Starbucks® Pumpkin Spice Caffè Latte K-Cup® pods or Starbucks® Pumpkin Spice ground coffee (12 oz).
My favorite way to enjoy my Starbucks® Pumpkin Spice Caffè Latte is with a nice scone in the morning. Pumpkin is such a beautiful flavor with a bit a spice and I find that it pairs well with chocolate. This chocolate chip scone recipe is a perfect match for a Pumpkin Spice Caffè Latte and is perfect to enjoy on a nice fall day. It is also a simple recipe to make for your friends if they come over for brunch.
Chocolate Chip Scones Recipe
- 1-½ cup Plus 2 Tablespoons Flour
- ¼ cups Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips
- 1 Tablespoon Unsalted Butter, melted
- 1 cup plus 2 Tablespoons Heavy Cream
- 1-½ Tablespoons Butter, melted (for top of scones)
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar (reserved for sprinkling on top of the scones)
Preheat oven to 375ºF. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together. Add chocolate chips and gently stir to combine. Create a small well in the center of the bowl. Pour in butter and heavy cream. Stir until just combined.

On a lightly floured surface knead dough and form into an 8-inch circle. Cut dough into 8 triangles.
Place scones on the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart. Brush with remaining melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake for 20 to 23 minutes, or until lightly browned. Let cool completely on a wire rack.
This chocolate chip scone recipe is so simple and easy and can be made in under 30 minutes. It’s perfect to pair with a cinnamon and spiced pumpkin flavored coffee and a crisp fall morning.
