Every summer, my ten year old step-daughter, Fifi, comes and spends the summers with us. As she has gotten older, it is getting harder to keep her busy with activities other than the television. This month, I gave Fifi three Glee Cds to keep her entertained. Since I took her old cd player to school, I gave her a new clock radio Hello Kitty CD player from Sparkle Bee.

I have only been blogging for about two years (in the capacity that I am now), but in that short time I have realized 5 tips that have really made a difference.

•  It pays to be a part of a community of bloggers.  I belong to a forum that has made my blog what it is today.  It is because of this group of women and men that I have had some of the great experiences that I have had.
•  Online friends are just as loyal (if not more) than real life friends. I have gone through a lot of personal things in the past year and my online friends were there for me when I needed support.  I can often tell them things that I can’t tell my co-workers or my friends I see all the time.
•  Having thick skin is useful at times.  When you blog in for the public to read you have to expect some comments that might hurt your feelings.  It is just a part of blogging.  If you are a sensitive person, you need to learn how to delete and move on!
•  Knowing how to SEO your posts are what will set you apart from the masses. Learning how to market yourself and your blog is essential if you are looking to support yourself financially through your blog.  You can check out a search engine marketing blog to learn more about marketing automation.
•  Know what you are worth and stick to it.  Don’t undersell yourself to anyone.  If you don’t believe you are worth what you charge, no one else will believe it either.

Mommy’s Worst Nightmare Arrived By UPS about a a week ago.

I didn’t even want to touch it to turn it upright for the picture.  It is still in this position in our living room as I can’t get myself to actually assemble it and put it in his room.  I think there will be actual tears as I pack away the crib!

A week ago I spent our Spring Break inside painting the house as the rain and snow came down.  Today I was outside with TJ playing in the sun and we actually had to come in because it was too hot! It is funny how quickly the weather turns around here.  As TJ and I were playing in the backyard, I looked around and quickly realized how much work we have to get the deck and yard ready for spring and summer entertaining.

We had to rebuild our brick wall in the front and side yard because the ice storm that we had destroyed it, so now I need to replant the area where we took out a bush.  I need to plant the hanging baskets off of the deck.  I am thinking that I might do some herbs and strawberries in a couple of them!  The deck needs some spring cleaning and we could use some new outdoor lounge chairs.  We love to read outside on the deck on a nice day (like we were able to tonight!) and having lounge chairs is essential.  My wood eating dog has created havoc on our old set and now I need to look for some steal ones that he can’t chew through.

I am so very excited for spring this year.  After the long and damaging winter, I am so ready to get outside and play.  I had one of those “This is the life” moments yesterday out at my in-laws house where the weather was perfect, my family was happy, and I was relaxing with a glass of wine.  I can’t wait for more of those.

My whole life I have struggled with dental health.  We go to the dentist once a year, but I can feel that my enamel on my teeth is getting depleted.  I take pretty good care of my teeth.  I brush at least twice a day and I floss every once in a while.  I might not have the best flossing routine, but I feel pretty good about how I take care of my teeth.  With that said, I could always do a better job with my mouthwash. The reason I always stop using mouthwash is that I can’t stand the burning sensation the many of the rinses create in my mouth.  I often also do not like the taste that is left behind in my mouth after I have finished the rinse.

My weekends seem to be so hectic because of all the running around and errands we have to run.  Being full time parents with full time jobs leaves us a lot to do on the weekends.  One of my favorite things to do is to eat lunch with my family on Saturday when we are running around town.  One of my favorite places to eat lunch is at Panera.

Panera has the best sandwiches and soups out there.  They make their sandwiches fresh and with fresh ingredients.  They make their own artisan bread and it is yummy!  My favorite sandwich has always been the Bacon Turkey Bravo on the Tomato Basil Bread, the bread totally makes the sandwich.  I usually pair the sandwich with some soup.  Panera has many different delicious soups to choose from that change daily.  My favorite is the Broccoli Cheddar soup (My mouth is watering right now as I write this). There really isn’t anything better in my opinion than a great soup and sandwich combination.  It is very comforting.

I recently went to Panera to check out their new salad the Thai Chopped Chicken Salad. The salad contains all-natural, antibiotic free chicken, romaine, wonton strips, a blend of fire-roasted edamame, red bell pepper and carrot tossed in a Thai Chili Vinaigrette. Topped with strips of seasoned grilled chicken, Thai cashews, fresh cilantro and a peanut drizzle.  Unfortunately when I got there they were all out of wonton strips, so mine didn’t include those.  The salad was light, yet filling.  I loved the Thai Chili Vinaigrette.  It was not as spicy as I thought it was going to be, but it complements the salad perfectly.  I really missed the wonton strips because it would have added the crunch that the salad really needs.  It was still delicious, but next time I want those wontons!

Panera also does breakfast.  They have a brand new breakfast sandwich on their menu beginning this month the Breakfast Power Sandwich.  They also serve espresso and other specialty coffee drinks.  In addition to the menu Panera has a bakery menu that includes pastries, breads and other sweets.  You can even buy a loaf of your favorite Panera bread! The atmosphere in Panera is a quiet, family place to enjoy your lunch.  There are often people working on their laptops, and ladies lunching but yet there are often families, like mine, enjoying a lunch together.

I had a wonderful weekend this past few days, yet I came home exhausted and sick.  I really wanted a home cooked meal, so I sent my husband to the Panera that is closest to us for some soup and a sandwich.  There is nothing like it!  Be sure to check out your local Panera and while you are there be sure to sign up for the MyPanera card and register it online (you will get a free surprise for doing so, so it is worth it)
