Brady is my first born, furry puggle child. In just a few days, he’ll be turning five already! But as the years go on, the dog obviously isn’t getting any younger – and his teeth and breath are paying the price. We picked out the tangerine colored leash and I love it. It is adjustable, which is one of the features we enjoy the most because we like to keep Eli on a short leash and a lot of the leashes that are available for large dogs have a long lead. We also appreciate that it isn’t a retractable leash. We have not had good luck with retractable leashes in the past and prefer non-retractable ones. The ReadyLeash is very durable as well.  As you can imagine, with a very large dog, we have gone through a lot of leashes in Eli’s time.  I can spot a durable leash from a mile away and this is one of them.  The biodegradable bags come in handy while you are walking.  I know on a few occasions I thought I had stuffed a bag in my coat pocket only to find out that I didn’t.  Now I don’t have to be caught without a bag!

My dog Eli was my first baby boy.  He paved the way for TJ.  My husband and I learned so much from raising him and he is a full-fledged member of our family.  Eli tends to get forgotten with the newer arrival, but he deserves some attention and special gifts this holiday season.  One of his favorite things is his dog bed.  He spends a lot of time on his dog beds and can go through several a year.  The problem I find with most of the dog beds that he has had in the past is that they do not complement our house decor at all!  I spend a lot of time making sure my house looks the way it does and then there in the corner is an ugly dog bed.  Well, thanks to Lily and Abbie, ugly dog beds are a thing of the past.

Lily and Abbie Custom Dog Beds allows you to custom design your dogs bed, from fabric to filling to binding.  You have control over the look of the entire dog bed.  We received a large 30 x 36 x 5 dog bed in a black and white motif that is very chic and fits our family’s personality. The size was perfect.  We have a very large dog (a Rhodesian Ridgeback) and he fit very nicely on the large sized bed.

The bed came packaged with the Duvet Cover and the Fill unassembled.  It was very easy to stuff the duvet with the polyester filling.  I love that the duvet cover is easily removable and easy to wash (cold water).  If you change your decor or just want an update, you can purchase the duvet covers separately.

The workmanship on the beds are amazing.  Lily and Abbie think of everything from customizing the biding on the bed to hiding the zipper with a panel of fabric.  These extra special finishes make this a dog bed like no other.  It is also very durable.  Our very large dog has dystroyed dog beds in a matter of hours in the past and so far he hasn’t been able to hurt his new one.

It’s about time Eli got in on the reviewing action in our family.  He has afterall been a family member longer than BJ.  And if any dog can determine if a product is durable, it is our 85 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback.  Purrfectplay is an online pet boutique shop that produces dye-free organic dog and cat toys.  Purrfectplay is dedicated to sustainable fair trade principles and therefore only uses organic, dye-free, and reclaimed materials in all of their products.  They also contribute to The Shirley Heinze Land Trust, a non-profit organizations that preserves and protects the unique ecosystems of the Indiana Dunes region (our home state). Not only does Purrfectplay care about the environment, they care about animals.  Five percent of each sale is given to no-kill and rescue animal organizations. This is company I can feel good about supporting!

So are the products durable enough to stand up to a 85 pound dog?  We were sent a Large Tug Toy, Super Jumbo Wool Ball, and the Large Leash Pouch for review.  Eli loves to play tug of war.  During the winter months we have gone through a lot of tug toys in order to keep him active (he loves to exercise and in the winter he doesn’t get out as much as he wants to).  I was a little concerned about the Large Tug Toy when I took it out of the package because I wasn’t sure if it would hold up to Eli’s rough play.  I was surprised at how durable it actually was.  We have played tug almost daily for the past two weeks and the Tug Toy looks almost as good as new!  The Tug Toy is made out of certified organic cotton scraps left over from an organic t-shirt company.  Each toy is hand braided and includes a tag made from old dog calendars, a true eco-friendly pet product.

Eli can destroy a tennis ball within 5 minutes if he really felt like it, so I was very interested in how the Super Jumbo Wool Ball would withstand Eli’s sharp teeth. Here is a little bit about Purrfectplay’s wool balls taken from their website:

Our organic wool comes from small family farms all over the U.S., but mainly from the Midwest where we live. It has taken us many months of experimentation to develop a wool ball which will be fun and durable. Our wool balls are hand formed from sustainably produced dye-free wool which has only been processed with gentle non-toxic soaps. Wool balls smell of sheep and meadow air, reminding your pets of the great outdoors.

Eli loves his wool ball.  He has not destroyed it to date, but it’s not for lack of trying.  I love how big the ball is.  It is hard to find large-sized balls for my large-sized dog.  Like I said earlier, he can destroy small balls within minutes wich is a waste of money.  Included with our wool ball was a washing bag. To clean your ball you simply put it in the bag and tie it shut.  After it has been washed you take it out and roll it in your hands and then air or machine dry it.  I love that you can wash these so easily.  This is the most durable dog ball I have had tried since Eli arrived into our family 4 years ago.

Lastly, we were given a Large Leash Pouch with a few BioBags to try out.  I love the Leash Pouch. I can’t count how many times we have gone on a walk and forgotten a grocery sack to pick up after Eli.  The Leash Pouch is made from reclaimed wool sweaters that would have been thrown away if not remade into these one of a kind pouches.  We have used leash poop bags before, but what makes Purrfectplay’s leash bags different is that it also includes a pocket that you can keep snacks, or keys, in as well.  You can attach the Leash Pouch onto the handle of your leash.  We will be attaching it to our stroller when we go for family walks (which unfortunately hasn’t been very often with all this snow we still have).
