I love getting flowers delivered. Not that it happens a lot, but when it does I feel really special. What can be even more special than flowers is a potted plant that will last a while (if you don’t end up killing it….speaking from experience). ProFlowers recently sent me a Potted Zebra Plant for my home and I am so very excited with it. It is a green plant with personality!

I love the striped leaves and the vibrancy of the plant. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that the plant has some lovely yellow blooms. The Zebra Potted Plant also came with directions to help keep it alive, so I am feeling hopeful that I can do it! Power Capes

When my sister, brother and I were kids we would pretend we were Superheroes. I grew up in the times of Wonder Women and Superman so we had several characters that we liked to emulate. We would take bath towels and tie them around our necks for our capes and then we were off to save the world.

I recently came across a website that creates personalized super hero capes for children, Power Capes. You can choose your colors and emblem and personalize it with your child’s initial. We had the opportunity to design one for TJ and I think it turned out so incredibly cute. We chose a blue cape with a Superman like emblem in red with a green letter J to personalize it just for TJ. I think it turned out super cute!

If we had Power Capes back when I was a kid I probably wouldn’t have taken it off. There are so many possibilities for kids to use their imaginations. If you are throwing a superhero themed birthday party this would be a perfect gift for you little one to wear during the party. Not sure about what you would like your child to dress up for Halloween? How about a personalized superhero outfit, you can be assured that he won’t be dressed up the same as all the neighborhood kids.

You could wear it over your head like a mask. You can put toys in it (which is what TJ mainly uses it for now but he is only 14 months old). You can drum on it. You can rock in it. TJ is still a little young to do more than putting toys in it and banging on it, but a wonderful thing about this toy is the wide range of ages that it appeals to. TJ is going to love this and not get bored with it for years to come. I love that it makes him use his imagination and creativity. It is also virtually indestructible (I know I have a 80 pound dog remember). Overall, I would purchase this toy for any child that I know. You really can’t go wrong.

I love buying accessories for myself and my home that are made from local artists. It is wonderful to know that not everyone in the neighborhood is sitting around staring at the same table lamp that I have. I also feel like it is important to support the artists who are so talented and a lot of times are struggling to make a living because they are doing what they love. In addition to local artists I love buying unique accessories from the places that I travel to (or used to travel to before we had kids). When my husband and I got engaged we were in ST. John and I found this local jewelry store that had a marriage bracelet native to ST. John. In addition to my new sparkly ring, I wore the bracelet everyday until I broke it. I still have the pieces. While we don’t have the luxury of traveling much anymore, I found a wonderful site online that celebrates talented artists around the world with unique home decor, jewelry, and corporate gifts made by the artists themselves.

There is so much wonderful pieces to choose from at NOVICA. I had a hard time choosing something to review. I found some great cobalt glassware for my kitchen that I loved. Here is a picture:

Guillermo Arregui, a Spaniard who currently resides in Mexico, is the artist behind the sterling silver dangle earrings, ‘Deco Moon.’ I decided on these earrings because they are contemporary and will go with a dressy outfit and also a casual one. The Deco Moon earrings retail for $67.95 and is totally worth every penny. Here is a picture of how they look on…

I love these earrings. In fact, all of NOVICA’s handmade jewerly is fabulous. They feel and look great, and I know that not every 30-something woman is going to be wearing them. Mommy’s Time Out Wine

I got the perfect Mother’s Day gift the other day. My bottle of Mommy’s Time Out Wine. It came so beautifully wrapped in a navy bag with an adorable flower on it. Moms everywhere would be impressed with the packaging. Equally as impressive is the wine itself. I received the Garganega /Pinot Grigio 2009. I am usually a red wine drinker but if I am going to drink a white Pinot Grigio is the only way to go. I thought Mommy’s Time Out was a very nice wine especially for a wine that retails under $10.00.
