I don’t buy myself clothes very often unless the clothes are classic and will be durable enough to withstand a mommy lifestyle.  If I am going to spend money on clothes it needs to be stylish, yet classic, and durable.  I recently had the chance to work with a company that specializes in all three of my criteria for clothes.  DownEast Basics is an affordable classic and stylish online clothing boutique perfect for women and moms everywhere!

Bit’z Kids Clothing

Finding stylish clothing for a 15 month old boy is very difficult.  I am not a huge fan of character shirts, which seem to be everywhere when you go and shop for little boys.  I want fun, stylish clothing for TJ and it seems like I have to really search for a while to find exactly what I am looking for.

I was recently sent some items from Bit’z Kids, a Japanese clothing store for kids in New York, for TJ to try out.

Our clothes are based on our core values–providing the highest quality of specialty clothes and service at reasonable prices. We aim to provide our customers with what we call “total fashion“–comfortable, safe clothing with high functionality that can keep up with ever-growing kids. We opened our first NYC store in 2008, confident our concepts would be appreciated by parents with small children in urban areas.

He received two pairs of pant and a blue Air Plane T-shirt.  I immediately loved that these articles of clothing, while looking a bit classic, were nothing like what I see at most department stores. Here is a picture of TJ in his cute outfit:

Machine Washable Footwear from Pediped®

I have fallen in love with a pair of shoes.  It’s not what you think, these shoes aren’t even for me.  These fabulous shoes belong to TJ.  We recently had the opportunity to try Pediped’s new machine washable shoes for kids.  I was already excited before the shoes arrived because what mom doesn’t need machine washable footwear?  TJ is now walking and it is only a matter of time (now that the weather is warmer and the rain has arrived) before he realizes that mud puddles are a great thing to jump into!  These new shoes feature dryz® technology insoles.

DRYZ® Technology is an effective moisture management and odor control material that regulates temperature and prolongs the life of shoes. In addition, DRYZ® Technology also cushions impact resulting in added comfort for your child’s feet.

To wash, simply remove the DRYZ® Technology insoles and place shoes in the washing machine. For best results, wash shoes alone in cold water, on gentle cycle. Do not add bleach; use regular detergent. Allow shoes to air dry with Velcro open (away from sunlight) before re-inserting the insole. Do no put shoes in the dryer.

I also love that these shoes come with an additional insole that customizes the fit to each individual child. If the child starts with both insoles, as the child’s feet grow the additional insoles may be removed to extend the length of time the child can wear the shoes. What an ingenious feature for children who grow out of their shoes so quickly.

TJ received the Joel style athletic sandal in dark brown/orange.  I can’t believe how light these shoe are.  The soles are flexible  and help to provide healthy foot development for my little guy as he grows. These shoes are ultra stylish and could be worn with shorts for a casual look as well as with khakis for a dressy look.  I love this because I don’t want to buy a bunch of different types of shoes for TJ that he will just grow out of in a few months.  I would rather purchase one pair of stylish durable shoes that can be worn with just about anything and will last forever, these shoes deliver.  TJ wore his new shoes to our Mother’s Day Brunch at a fancy hotel, and then turned around and wore them with some shorts to daycare (he looked great at both activities).

Pediped has many different styles and options for children’s footwear.  New for spring, Pediped is introducing a line of shoes with Memory Foam. “Memory Foam Technology  allows the shoe to mold to your child’s foot, acting like a custom insole, supporting the foot in all the right places. Crazy Dog T-Shirts Daddy Review and Giveaway CLOSED

My wife told me that I could order any t-shirt I wanted from crazydogtshirts.com.  Being a man, I can never have enough t-shirts.  So I logged on to the website to select the t-shirt to order.  Wow.  They have a lot of t-shirts to choose from.  It would have certainly been overwhelming if the website hadn’t been so easy to navigate.  You can search for t-shirts by choosing the kind of t-shirt you are looking for.  Some of the different kinds to choose from in your search are 80′s, Halloween, graphic, funny, cool, hangover (!?), hilarious, novelty, St. Patrick’s Day, Christmas and Tuxedo t-shirts.  That was just some of them.  I spent about 45 minutes looking through all the different kinds and styles they had.  I am 33 years old and found that a lot of these t-shirts were a little “young” for me.  I like a cool, casual t-shirt, but some of them would have looked more appropriate on someone 10-15 years younger than I am.  I finally choose a t-shirt that said, simply, “You are Here”.  The t-shirt came in the mail and I was impressed with the quality of it.  I like “fitted” t-shirts.  I don’t like them to be too big so that I swim around in them.  I found this t-shirt to fit mere very well and it had a nice cut to it.  I also like my t-shirt material to be a light cotton.  Nothing too thick like some of the cheaper shirts you might sometimes wind up with.  The cotton on this shirt was nice and light and thin.  If you have some time to spare, I do recommend that you go to crazydogtshirts.com and take a look around.  It is worth your time.  Even though, at my age, I would never wear some of these t-shirts in public, I must say some of them are pretty darned funny and the website is worth cruising around in. Bamboosa (Closed)

I can remember when earth friendly clothing and accessories ment hemp and scratchy and uncomfortable.  Eco-friendly clothing has come along way since the hemp days and now it is both fashionable and comfortable.  You can find earth friendly clothing made from all kinds of materials including organic cotton, bamboo, and (our old favorite) hemp.  I have purchased several items made out of bamboo and have marveled at how soft the products are.  Bamboo is also a fabric that can absorb 3-4 times as much water than cotton allowing your skin to be comfortable and not sticky in the hot weather. Bamboo is also a great material to work with because it is one of the fastest growing plants on earth, maturing in only four years compared with the 25-70 years it takes for commercial trees to mature.  Bamboo can grow up to  4 feet each day! One great American company that specializes in creating stylish, comfortable clothing made out of bamboo is Bamboosa.

I was very excited to review Bamboosa‘s clothing because I have had a lot of clothing made from bamboo before and they are all super soft.  Bamboosa sent me their Priya skirt in Merlot Red for me to try out.  The Priya is the most comfortable skirt that I have ever worn.  It is made from Viscose (from organic bamboo) and Lycra and has two pockets sewed into it.  I love having pockets in my skirts to keep my keys or a small wallet in.  The skirt is very versatile allowing me to go from work, to the gym (where I change into yoga pants) and back home.  I love the red color.  It is very vibrant and hasn’t faded after several washings. The fabric is very light and airy making it a great swimsuit coverup.  It is long to golf in without wearing shorts underneath which is an added bonus.  I can see myself wearing this skirt a lot this summer! Stay With Me Socks

Stay With Me Socks don’t come off until you take them off.  These ingenious socks have adjustable velcro straps that secure around your childs ankles so that they don’t come off.  The velcro straps also loop together and secure so that when you throw them in the wash they stay together.  No more lost socks.  I really enjoyed this feature of the socks. I am forever trying to find mismatched socks for BJ and it drives me crazy because I know that I put both socks into the wash machine.  If you are having a hard time with socks staying on your child or if you would like a great way to keep your socks together in the wash visit Stay With Me Socks.
