Years ago, I was a latecomer to the cell phone world. It seemed that everyone else had a cell phone besides me. I told myself that I didn’t need one. In a certain way, of course, I was right. As you can imagine, I eventually got a cell phone and quickly could not imagine my life without it.
Fast forward to about 11 years and it is 2012 and I still have, basically, the same cell phone I had in the early 2000’s. Everyone else that I knew had this new thing, called a “smart phone”. Again, I told myself that I didn’t need one and held out as long as I could. I probably would still be holding out today if it wasn’t for my wife forcing my hand. For Christmas last year, be both got smart phones.
We went to the store of our service provider to discuss options. The gentleman that we talked with showed me his Window’s Phone. I was immediately intrigued. The interface was quite a bit different than the phones that I had seen previously. Instead of “icons” on the screen, it had “tiles”. These tiles were modern, sleek and classy looking. They were also completely customizable. The man at the store let me fool around with his phone and after about 30 seconds, I was sold.
When I opened the box I was amazed at how quickly and easily I could set it up. I was able to install pictures of my friends and family into my phone. I could assign that picture to their contact and now I have a “tile” on my home screen that has all my friends and family’s pictures rotating in and out. It is very cool looking. The “tile” on my home screen for all of my photos on my phone is the same way. Also, the phone takes pictures from my Facebook account and brings them up to rotate in and out of my lock screen. So every time I pick my phone up, I see a new picture from Facebook. With the pictures moving like this, your home screen looks very “alive”. You can make your “tiles” three different sizes and any color. What you get is almost endless options to make your home screen exactly how you want it. Not only how you want it, but more of a reflection of who you are and what is important to you.
Just like 11 years ago, I can now not imagine my life without a smart phone. A large part of my life is in this phone. It has all my of my contacts, it has my calendar for my personal life and work. It has my emails for work and personal life. It has pictures of my children. It has the weather and an app to help me find a new home for my family. These are all things that play a large role in my current life. These are things that all smart phones provide, but with the Windows Phone 8X, I can customize them to look and interact with me just how I want them. It is because of this, I think that the Windows Phone 8X is so much better than any other smart phone I have seen. I have only had my phone for about one month and am still learning all the fun things that I can do with it to really make it MY phone.
A huge thank you to Windows 8X by HTC for providing a phone for us. Opinions are based on my own experiences and are 100% mine. #Troop8X #HTC8

Love this phone!

I was a latecomer to cell phones too, which is really funny because now mine is in my hand nearly all day long.
