Creating My Own Mom Cave

I dream of having my own space.  My own personal space that I don’t have to share with my husband or the kids.  A place I can call my own and decorate to my liking.  I want to pick out each piece of decor and furniture to make myself happy.  A place where I can go and relax, and blog, all without stepping on a toy or trying to compete with a television set.  You know… A Mom Cave!

I decided that I deserve one!

Ok… don’t panic, but this is the room that I plan on transforming in my Mom Cave:

I know, it looks a little rough.  Okay… its a mess without walls.  We are waterproofing the basement this week and will be putting the dry wall back up later this month.  After we finish it will be a perfect clean slate.  And when I am finished I hope it would look something like this:

How do I plan to pull of this amazing transformation?  With the help of  La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries.  I was browsing online for sofas and chairs when I came across the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries Online Catalog.  I was familiar with the La-Z-Boy brand as they have been in business for 85 years, but what I was not familiar with was the full range of what they had to offer.  I wanted more than just a recliner, and what I found ranged from amazing coffee tables to fully customizable furniture.  I was really impressed.  After a little bit of research, I found that there was actually a La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery close to me.  Of course I had to go take a look for myself.

Immediately upon entering the store, I was greeted by a gentleman who asked what I was looking for today. I told him about my mission to create a Mom Cave and he allowed me to shop at my own pace.  I love that he wasn’t so pushy and allowed me to browse by myself.  He told me where to find him if I needed additional assistance.  Before he left, he noticed me looking at this coffee table:

He showed me how this unique table worked.  The middle of the table rises up so that if you are eating or doing something at your coffee table, you don’t have to bend over.  Can I just tell you how perfect this table would be for me?  I like to blog on my laptop in my living room.  I want my Mom Cave to be a place I can go to have some quiet time and a place to blog from.  This coffee table is the perfect answer.  I can set my laptop on the middle riser and blog away.  When I am done, I can push that piece down and it becomes a regular, nice looking, oval coffee table.  This is on my “must have list” for my new Mom Cave!

Essential in my Mom Cave is going to be a sofa and a comfortable, stylish chair. I noticed several chair that I loved as I was browsing through the galleries.

The chair is the top left is a rocker that fully reclines.  I have this small obsession with rocking chairs.  I love them!  One of my favorite things to do is to crawl up into a rocking chair with a good book and a cup of coffee and just relax.  I have done this since I was a little girl.  The idea of having one in my Mom Cave excites me.  There are hundreds of options when it comes to chairs at  La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries.  Your chair can recline, rock, or be stationary.  It can come with your choice of over 900 fabrics that range from leather to microsuede and everything in-between.

My store had two Design Centers on either end of the store where you could browse the vast selection of fabrics and special order the perfect piece for your home. I have to say that this could be a little overwhelming if it wasn’t for the professionals at the store who will help guide you in your decision making.

I was very glad that I was able to see all the fabric choices for myself.  I saw this print online, and it didn’t do the fabric justice:

I absolutely fell in love with this mock living room.  I knew that I wanted to incorporate a purple some how, and this print allows me to change up the focus color.  There is greens and yellows and creams along with the purple.  I am thinking of a grey sofa, and this chair would be the perfect accent piece.

I didn’t realize how much more  La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries offers besides sofas and chairs.  I love the lamps that I saw in the store.  They were modern and fresh.  I also saw some great rugs that I would love to have.  They also have side tables and desks as well.  Look at this beauty:

I can see myself seated at this desk blogging away in peace.
