Moon Dough

Finding fun and interesting activities for TJ at home has become quite the task.  He gets bored of his toys easily and so I feel like I am constantly introducing new toys for him to engage in play.  I was recently sent Moon Dough for TJ and I to try out and was pleasantly surprised at how well TJ played with it.

Moon Dough is an out-of-this-world new molding dough that never dries out! Hypo-allergenic and wheat-free, soft and marshmallow-like, Moon Dough does not stick to or stain material. Because Moon Dough never dries out, kids can use it again and again.  Moon Dough is the latest and greatest new molding compound for kids ages 2-4 to sculpt into fun creations they will love to play with.

Moon Dough also offers a variety of enjoyable play sets. We were sent the barn play set with several colors of Moon Dough to test out.  I was a little worried about Moon Dough being to difficult for a 16 month old to play with.  He had to have an adult with him, but he enjoyed playing with the dough.  I helped him stuff the Moon Dough into the top of the barn and pull the handle to create fun little barn animals.  He loved watching the excess dough fall into the cup on the side of the barn (after a while he just decided to fill the cup with the Moon Dough and boycott the animal making part of the barn).  I love the texture and weight of the Moon Dough.  It is easy to work with for young children.  However, I have to say that it is really messy.  I would suggest putting the barn on top of a plastic cloth when you get it out to play.  I originally thought that I would bring the play-set to school, but after seeing the mess you make when you play with it, I have changed my mind.  On the plus side I love how it doesn’t dry out like play dough and it is easier to clean up than play dough (it doesn’t stick to fibers).

Overall, we had a blast playing with the Moon Dough barn play-set.  It was easy for young children to work with.  In order to keep your mommy self sane, be sure to play with the dough on a plastic tablecloth surface for easier clean up.
