Skin MD Natural (Giveaway) CLOSED

The winter months are horrendous on my skin.   I already suffer from dry skin and eczema but in the summer it seems to spread and get progressively worse. Lotion is essential during the winter.  Finding a good lotion is a difficult task for someone with skin sensitivities.  I want something that is going to work, but it has to be gentle enough on my skin that I don’t break out in a rash. I recently had the chance to try Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion to soothe my dry skin.

A shielding lotion is “a very special type of lotion helping the skin restore its integrity, enhance its protective functions so that the skin is able to heal naturally and regain its youthful appearance.” (taken from Skin MD Natural’s website). The bottle isn’t fancy (a white bottle with a simple label) but the product can stand for itself. Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion is very light and silky.  It doesn’t feel like most of the moisturizers and lotions that I have used in the past.  The lotion glides on and absorbs into the skin quickly.I was a little skeptical of how light and thin the product was because of my severely dry skin, but the shielding lotion worked just as well as many of my thick creams that I use for my eczema.  I began by applying the lotion  all over my body after showering.  I did this for a couple of weeks to make sure my sensitive skin didn’t break out.  My skin felt rehydrated and moisturized with just the once daily application.  After ensuring I wouldn’t have an allergic reaction, I recently began using Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion on my face as a daily moisturizer.  My face feels incredibly soft.  I could easily replace my facial moisturizer with the shielding lotion. Skin MD also offers the Shielding Lotion with SPF15 to help defend your skin against harmful sun rays.  Here are the highlights of the Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion:

  • No animal products or testing
  • Dermatology tested
  • Fragrance and colorant free
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Paraben free
  • Non-comedogenic

Overall, I would highly recommend this product for anyone. Skin MD Natural Shield Lotion comes in a 4 ounce bottle (you would be surprised how long this actually lasts) for $18.  The SPF15 formula retails for $25 for a 4 ounce bottle.

I learned that shielding lotions stay on because they bond with the skin and protect it for long periods of time. This is unlike conventional moisturizers that don’t penetrate.

I shower in luke-warm water, even though I love hot showers they dry out my skin too much in the winter.

To keep my hands somewhat moisturized, I have to use lots of lotion on them and wear gloves at night. I work outside all day so they get very very dry!!!!

I usually use something like Palmer’s Cocoa Butter, which works pretty well. But I’m always on the lookout for new products.

My number 1 favorite skincare product is Na-PCA thus far in my experience.

“Na-PCA is synthesized from glutamic acid, a nonessential amino acid. The skin contains natural moisturizers, the most important being Na-PCA. Old skin contains only about half the amount of Na-PCA as that found in young skin.”

It keeps my skin moisturized even in the harsh winter. Best of all? An $8 last months and months!

I have terribly try skin and regardless of how much moisturizer I use, my skin never seems to absorb it. This lotion seems different in that it shields the skin from environmental irritants that rob the skin of moisture allowing the lotions’s very hydrating ingredients to penetrate the skin throughout the day. I would also think that based on this technology, you would use much less moisturizer, get a better result and save money. I would love to try this product. Thanks for the great giveaway.

I don’t take hot showers and I use a ton of Aveeno intense relief moisturizer (the red label in a jar). Even that stuff hasn’t been able to keep up with my dryness this winter.

First of all, I love that it is fragrance free! I didn’t know how much a fragrance or a color could penetrate the skin and irritate it. This sounds amazing!
