f04d_11A frequent story in my house during bedtime… I rock my little guy to sleep in our rocker and gently lay him down in his crib. He usually tosses and turns but remains asleep. I tiptoe out, careful not to step on the parts of the floorboards that squeak. All is well. A few minutes later I go in to check on him to make sure he is asleep. The problem arrives as I am leaving the room, the door. The sound of the door will sometimes awaken my guy and then I will have to start the whole process again. Does this sound familiar? Well I have found a product that helps muffle the sound of the doorknob when opening or closing the door, Baby Urbana’s Cushy Closer Door Cushion.newly added cushy closers

The Cushy Closer Door Cushion allows you to open the door without turning the doorknob. The cushion fastens on both sides of the doorknob with a flexible band. The cushion fits over the latch so the door doesn’t click when closed. When not in use you simply unhook one end of the cushion and allow it to hang from the doorknob.

After reviewing this product, I realized that it would also be helpful to have the Cushy Closer Door Cushion on our bedroom door as well. Often my husband and I don’t go to bed at the same time. More than once I have woke him up by coming into the room. Our house is older and the doors are kind of loud when you open them. . This design will also be helpful when BJ is a little older because he won’t be able to accidentally lock himself in a room. After using this product for a little while I have found that BJ has not woken up from doorknob noises. Now, if I could just fix the squeaky floorboards!

    This would be perfect for our boys room b/c when our oldest son gets up to go potty, he tends to wake his baby brother when he shuts his door!!!
    One of our bed time routines includes singing a song ‘close your eyes’ that we made up the first night we spent with our first 2 children (adopted). We’ve sang it most nights for the past 4 yrs : ) And just keep adding names at the end ; )

    This is a wonderful idea but not just for kids, I have 2 large dogs that can manover a door by pushing it open but not when the handle locks in place. This would be great for us, no more getting locked in the bedroom by accident.

    We have the same routine every night.
    My husband gives our daughter a bath, and I get my shower at that time.
    After we’re both dressed, I nurse her.
    If she doesn’t fall asleep nursing, my husband takes her to her room to read books. Then he sings songs to her (usually 60’s & 70’s ballands) and rocks her to sleep.

    He’s actually singing, “Cheer Up Sleepy Jean” to her right now! :)

    Favorite bedtime rituals: We’ve made up songs for all the mundane things you have to do at night, like brushing your teeth and taking a bath. In the bath, while I wash the kids’ hair, we sing “I’m gonna wash those germs right outta your hair….”
